Right, posted on the forum...

Lets see what happens, lots of words there but no action being suggested so we'll see if they pick up the petition and do anything..

No mention of the bench either so I'm hoping that this is not just Bizarre aiming to use the story for their own gain, we'll see (I'm feeling a tad more cynical today than normal!)

The Petition is over 4000 signatures at 4023 it is the 39th most popular petition on the entire site. That is about 1000 signatures in the last two weeks!

That's great news.

I thought we were doing well, but had no idea how the amount of signatures compared to other petitions, I always assumed that while 4000 sounded a lot it probably wasn't when put up against others on the site.

Well done everyone!

Even more impressive when you realise there are 7121 petitions on there. Most don't get above 500. You need above 7000 to get into the top 20 at the moment. Whatever the response from the government it is a decent achievement in itself shows how many people care about the issues.

This is now on 4930, and is still being spammed by people on myspace, looks like it'll finish over 5000!

Of all the petitions closing tomorrow it's by far the largest.

Dont take this the wrong way, but i think its a real shame that when it finally hits mainstream due to the finishing off of the hearing, the petition as to be handed over. I feel it may have really started to roll.

I know what Dave means, but I think it was important to start it when it did, and if anything having it finish now when the case is so prominent in the media is going to give it more chance of success. I think the fact that everyone is talking about how it happened because of the way they were dressed at the time that it ends will show that we were right all along.

5328!

Any bets on it hitting 6000 by the end of the day, double what it was a week or so ago?

Yesterday at 4.19pm (27.3.08) the total signatures were 4200. Today at 1.40pm the total has risen to 5800. 1600 additional signatures in less than 24 hours is amazing. Reading on other forums (Digital Spy to name one), a link has recently been put on for people to sign the petition.

What a great final push, and yes I will eat my memory stick if we don't get above 6000 signatures by the end of the day. :D

Afraid not, these things run for a set period of time, we're now at 6825

The important thing is that it comes up for review when the media hype is at it's highest, it's a pity that they didn't cover it so well at the start of this, but it could have been a lot worse, imagine if this ended three days ago.. we'd have been looking at a petition of less than 3000...

I've been on a last minute spam too, going for the final push..
